Though the Houston heat is surely sticking around for a bit longer, the summer is officially winding down and back to school we go. In fact, more than 900 freshmen recently stepped on campus and joined the Rice family. At the Glasscock School of Continuing Studies, we’re also gearing up for an incredible fall in our new facility, the D. Kent and Linda C. Anderson and Robert L. and Jean T. Clarke Center, and can’t think of a better way to share our excitement than to invite you to join our community at the upcoming Fall Preview.
Join us for this free event on September 3 either from 1-3 p.m. or from 5:30-7:30 p.m. to hear brief preview lectures from upcoming courses, meet instructors and fellow students and enter drawings to win prizes. Bring a friend and get a taste of our courses, whether you are interested in photography, foreign languages, philanthropy or learning more about the college application process. As you bounce from room to room, you’ll hear from some of our popular instructors including Newell Boyd, Ph.D., who will discuss famous figures in Western history, Nancy Bailey, Ph.D., who will present on American music and John Boles, Ph.D., who will offer insight to the life of Thomas Jefferson. With samples from such a broad section of our courses all in one place, we hope you’ll gain some practical tips, fresh perspectives and maybe even discover a new passion to pursue. “We’re excited to open our doors and let the public hear from several of our wonderful instructors at one event,” says Steve Garfinkel, director of community programs.
