Development and Finance Symposium

Janet Clark

On May 13 and 14, the Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership will host the second annual Development and Finance Symposium, co-sponsored by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). The symposium is designed to explore the dynamics of having the finance and fundraising offices collaborate to strengthen your organization. The keynote speaker is Janet F. Clark, recently retired executive vice president and chief financial officer of Marathon Oil Corporation. Ms. Clark has been named by Forbes as one of the 100 most powerful women and is currently serving on five nonprofit boards. She will be joined by a host of knowledgeable speakers for breakout sessions including “From the CFO’s Perspective” and “From the CDO’s Perspective,” where you will hear from a panel of successful nonprofit executives. In a recent interview with AFP, director of the Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership Angela Seaworth, ACFRE, mentioned that this may be the perfect chance for attendees to ask that question they have been too afraid to ask back at their offices or local meetings.

We’re also pleased to share that scholarships are available for local nonprofit executives, so visit cpnl.rice.edu/dfs to learn more about that opportunity. We hope to see you in the new Anderson-Clarke Center for this exciting two-day event.
