After taking “Life Upon the Stage: The Inner Workings of Houston Grand Opera,” you’ll feel like a total insider the next time you walk up to the Wortham Theater Center for a performance. Lead instructor and dramaturg at HGO, Mark Mena Hanna, Ph.D., along with other leading members of the HGO administration will provide an intimate look at the inner workings of the organization. Participants will even attend a dress rehearsal of “A Coffin in Egypt” and enjoy a special behind-the-scenes tour of HGO.
Dr. Hanna shares why he’s looking forward to being a part of this class.
“Personally, I’m excited to teach about the history of opera and the development of the art form, but also introduce students to the inner-workings of a modern international opera house; how we cast singers, build productions, and encourage young talent are just some of the topics we’ll cover.”
“Life Upon the Stage: The Inner Workings of Houston Grand Opera” begins Wednesday, February 19.
