Rice is offering a variety of events on campus for both alumni and non-alumni Rice supporters during Homecoming, November 14-17, 2013. The festivities begin Thursday and continue through the weekend. We hope you can participate and display your school spirit!
President Leebron will deliver his keynote speech, “Centennial Impact,” at 2 p.m. on Saturday in the alumni tent. Join us afterwards for the annual barbecue while we support the Owls and connect with other Rice fans. The homecoming game kicks off against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs at 6 p.m. You must purchase tickets in advance for both the barbecue and football game.
Check out the Classroom Connect courses, presented by alumni or current Rice professors, at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. in either Sewall Hall or the James A. Baker III Hall on Friday, November 15. The lectures continue Saturday morning at 10, 11 a.m. and noon in McMurtry Auditorium and the James A. Baker III Hall. Free to the public, these lectures offer unique opportunities to hear perspectives from experts in their fields. Topics include:
- “Rice’s Use of Technology to Improve Education”
- Nobel Laureate Dr. Robert Curl
- “Cross-cultural Communication Best Practices for Today’s Global World”
- “The Changing Face of Houston and America.”
In addition, there is a brunch on Saturday, November 16 beginning at 10 a.m. specifically for alumni, friends and supporters of the Glasscock School of Continuing Studies. Registration for this brunch is required and we hope to welcome many of our friends back for this special time.
We hope you will take part in these exciting events to celebrate all Rice has to offer. Please visit http://www.ruf.rice.edu/~events/homecoming/schedule.htm to learn more and to register. You’ll definitely be in excellent company.
